Artists, fabricators, public art administrators, real estate developers, private art consultants, public art curators and more are welcomed to join this community building event.
In the public art world, we don't have gallery openings, art fairs, residencies or natural meeting places...this is our chance to meet, talk, make friends and hang out together.
The event will kick off with “Hot Topics in Public Art,” an interactive and irreverent conversation with experts from across the field. Prepare to ask and answer questions!

Harlem has such a rich artistic history and today's public art scene doesn't disappoint: there is incredible public art from subway mosaics to murals, permanent and temporary sculpture and more. Our panel will explore universal questions and ideas through the unique lens of Harlem:
What and who is public art for, and are we asking too much of it?
What is community engagement, and who constitutes “the community?”
Does public art aid gentrification, and if so, what can or should we do about it?
Artistic censorship and self-censorship
Race and representation in public art
Does "successful" public art have to likable?
And then...we will have some fun!
