Get a taste of batik in this hands-on session that introduces the fundamentals of this layered textile process.&nbsp;You’ll&nbsp;work with wax&nbsp;resist&nbsp;and fabric dyes to build pattern and imagery, learning how designs develop through successive steps of waxing and dyeing. With guided instruction,&nbsp;you’ll&nbsp;complete a small batik piece while getting comfortable with the tools, materials, and rhythm of the process. This class is designed as an accessible entry point that balances structure with experimentation. All supplies are provided, so you can focus on making and enjoy seeing your work come together. One of jazz's most soulful and joyful voices, Eli Yamin is a pianist, vocalist, composer, and educator whose music pours from the wellspring where jazz, blues, and gospel all run together. A New York City native and longtime champion of jazz education through his work with Jazz at Lincoln Center, he has dedicated his life to both performing and sharing the music — writing original songs, leading ensembles, and bringing the story of jazz into classrooms and concert halls around the world. His piano playing is warm and luminous, his singing earthy and intimate, and his connection to an audience is immediate and real. screening of Battle for the Bid, a powerful docuseries that follows
the Boston University men's basketball team as they chase a dream
interrupted by one of the most unprecedented moments in modern
history&nbsp;
— the COVID 19 pandemic.
Presented
by Sahnte Jean Studios and supported by the New York Chapter of the
National Association of Black Journalists, the event will take place
at Comedy in Harlem, located at 750A St. Nicholas Avenue in New York
City.
