Early Voting Site Evacuated Due To Bomb Scare: Authorities
Staff and voters were escorted from the building Sunday in East Harlem, according to officials.
EAST HARLEM, NY — An early voting site in East Harlem was evacuated Sunday due to a bomb scare, according to authorities.
The incident occurred mid-day at the Jackie Robinson Educational Complex, 1573 Madison Ave., the New York City Board of Elections tweeted about 12:45 p.m. Staff and voters were escorted from the building until police cleared the location to resume voting around 1 p.m., according to the elections board.
The threat did not target the polling site but rather was lodged against the school where the voting was taking place, amNY reported, noting no explosives were found during a sweep of the building Sunday.
