East Harlem Gunfight Leaves 1 Man Dead, 1 Injured

A gunfight between two men on an East Harlem street early Tuesday left one of them dead and the other injured, police said.

EAST HARLEM, NY — A gunfight between two men on an East Harlem street early Tuesday left one of them dead and the other injured, police said.

Around 1:05 a.m. Tuesday, police responded to a 911 call about a shooting in front of 107 East 126th St., between Park and Lexington avenues.

They found a 21-year-old man with gunshot wounds to his left and right armpits. Paramedics brought him to Harlem Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Police identified him as Tyquan Hardnett, a Harlem resident.

Less than half an hour later, police responded to another 911 call reporting a man shot at 27 East 124th St. They found a 19-year-old man suffering from gunshot wounds to his groin and right shoulder.

He was taken to Harlem Hospital, where he was listed in stable condition and was in police custody.

Police believe the two men got into a gunfight at 107 East 126th St., and are continuing to investigate.
