East Harlem Recreation Center To Host 6 Free Exercise Classes

Try out new classes such as cardio dance, low impact fitness and stretching and meditation on Saturday.

EAST HARLEM, NY — The city Parks Department will debut its newest exercise class offerings at East Harlem's Thomas Jefferson Recreation Center.

The six-class demonstration will occur Saturday, Jan. 5 at the recreation center on First Avenue near East 112th Street, according to the parks department. Each class will run 20 minutes and is free to participate in, the department announced.

The six types of workout classes include: Cardio dance, fusion (dance fitness and boot camp), belly dancing, rhythm of the beat and soul, low impact fitness and stretching and meditation.

The first class starts at 9 a.m. and the final class is supposed to end around 12:30 p.m., the parks department announced

The classes are offered through the parks department's Shape Up NYC program, which will host free workout classes in various city parks and recreation centers throughout the year.
