Gunman Faces Charges In Shooting At Harlem's King Towers: Police

Police arrested a man they say shot and killed a 24-year-old woman inside the Martin Luther King Jr. Towers public housing development.

HARLEM, NY — An East Harlem man is facing murder charges for the deadly December shooting of a woman inside Harlem's Martin Luther King Jr. Towers, police told Patch.

Malachi Colon, 21, was charged Tuesday with second-degree murder, criminally negligent homicide, criminal use of a firearm and criminal possession of a weapon, police said. Colon is accused of killing 24-year-old Natalie Vasquez on Dec. 9, police said.

Vasquez was found inside the King Towers housing project suffering a gunshot wound to the head, police told Patch. First responders discovered her body inside a building on 5th Avenue near West 114th Street around 1:50 a.m., police said.
