Harlem Fire Injures 4, FDNY Says

HARLEM, NY — Four people were injured Wednesday morning when a fire broke out inside a Harlem apartment building, an FDNY spokesman said.

The fire started in the first floor of a four-story multiple dwelling building on West 150th Street between Broadway and Amsterdam Avenue around 5:20 a.m., an FDNY spokesman said. When firefighters arrived on the scene, the fire was upgraded to an all-hands response of 12 units and 60 firefighters, the spokesman said.

Of the four people injured, all were civilians. Three people suffered minor injuries and one person suffered serious but non life-threatening injuries, an FDNY spokesman said. Two people were taken to an area hospital and two refused medical attention at the scene, fire officials said.

The fire was brought under control by 6:30 a.m., an FDNY spokesman said. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
