Watch the action packed trailer for new the new Netflix and Marvel series "Luke Cage."
HARLEM, NY — Harlem is getting its own superhero show in September when Netflix rolls out its newest series in conjunction with Marvel — "Luke Cage."
The streaming giant released a nearly three-minute trailer for the series Thursday that provides insight on the Harlem hero's origin story and gives a first glimpse of the series' storyline. Oh, and the trailer shows Cage literally smashing cars in half, absorbing the impact of bullets like they're being shot from Nerf guns and throwing a baddie through a glass window by his waistband.
Cage, played by Mike Colter, is a man who doesn't know what to do with his powers. But from the looks of the trailer, he will have no problem defending the people of Harlem from bloodthirsty criminal Cornell Stokes, played by Mahershala Ali.

"Sometimes if you want justice you have to get it yourself," says Rosario Dawson's character Claire Temple in the trailer.
The series will share the same universe as Netflix's "Jessica Jones," which is based in Hell's Kitchen. The show will be released Sept. 30 on Netflix.
