Harlem Shooting: Man Shot In Chest In Marcus Garvey Park, Police Say
The victim was taken to Harlem Hospital in stable condition, an NYPD spokesman told Patch.

HARLEM, NY — A man was taken to the hospital Thursday afternoon after being shot in a Harlem park, any NYPD spokesman told Patch,
The man — who was not identified — was shot in the chest shortly after 1:30 p.m. near the basketball courts at Marcus Garvey Park in the vicinity of East 121st Street and Madison Avenue, the NYPD spokesman said.
The victim was brought to Harlem Hospital in stable condition, police told Patch.

A witness told DNAinfo that he was in the park playing chess when he heard two gunshots.
"Then I saw [the victim] walking up. You saw the blood. He was bleeding from the chest. I was like, 'Did he just get shot?' He had on shorts and basketball attire. He was walking with other people," the man who went by "G.G." told DNAinfo.

A suspect was seen fleeing Marcus Garvey Park heading east on East 121st Street, an NYPD spokesman told Patch. The suspect could not be identified and is still at large, police said.
The NYPD investigation into the shooting is ongoing, a department spokesman told Patch.
