Harlem Taco Spot Named Among Best In NYC

A new list by Eater of the city's "outstanding" tacos names an East Harlem counter-serve eatery as one of New York's best.

EAST HARLEM, NY — A small counter-serve eatery in East Harlem has been named among the best taco sellers in New York City, according to a new list by Eater.

The list of "37 Outstanding Tacos to Try in NYC," published Friday, includes Taco Mix at 234 East 116th St., between Second and Third avenues.

A "beautiful twirling cylinder of park al pastor" in the window of Taco Mix is a surefire sign of the restaurant's greatness, Eater wrote. The eatery also offers an "impressive array of taco toppings" including several types of chile, various salsas and pickled jalapeños.

In addition to regular tacos and tacos dorados — a rolled-up crunchy option also known as a taquito — Taco Mix sells burritos, quesadillas, nachos, tostadas and more, according to its website. The store has three other locations in the South Bronx, Industry City in Brooklyn and Delancey Street on the Lower East Side.

Another spot on Eater's list is not far from East Harlem: El Paso Taqueria, located on East 97th Street between Madison and Park avenues in Carnegie Hill.
