Harlem Woman Found Stabbed To Death In Her Apartment

HARLEM, NY — Police are investigating a homicide after a 35-year-old woman was found fatally stabbed inside her Harlem apartment last week.

Around 4:34 p.m. on Oct. 18, police responded to a 911 call reporting a foul odor emanating from a 12th-floor apartment at the corner of Frederick Douglass Boulevard and 129th Street, part of the St. Nicholas Houses complex.

Inside, officers found a woman lying on the floor of her bathroom, unresponsive and with stab wounds to her chest and neck.

Paramedics pronounced her dead at the scene. The woman has been identified as 35-year-old Jessica Mitcham.

The medical examiner deemed her death a homicide. Police have made no arrests and an investigation is ongoing.
