Harlem's Schomburg Center Unveils Fall 2017 Event Lineup
Check out the Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture's fall offerings, featuring readings of James Baldwin, Jesmyn Ward and more.
HARLEM, NY — The Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture announce its events lineup for the fall 2017 season Tuesday. The fall season begins September 1 with a special “Carnival” edition of the Schomburg Center's "First Fridays" series.
The Fall Season at the Schomburg Center will feature full-day readings of James Baldwin, a discussion with National Book Award winner Jesmyn Ward about her new novel "Sing, Unburied, Sing," a tribute to jazz icon “Sonny” Rollins, discussions on race in the United States and much more.
The Schomburg Center was one of 24 buildings designated a national historic landmark in January by the Department of Interior.

"The Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture in New York City represents the idea of the African Diaspora, a revolutionizing model for studying the history and culture of people of African descent that used a global, transnational perspective," a statement from the Interior Department read.
