Hip Hop Hall Of Fame Wins Bid For Harlem Development Site
The hall of fame, museum, concert venue and hotel will be built on Harlem's 125th Street.

HARLEM, NY — A development site on Harlem's 125th Street will soon be home to an official hall of fame and museum for Hip Hop, museum officials announced in a press release.
The Official Hip Hop Hall of Fame and Museum successfully bid to acquire a building site on 125th Street and plans to raise $150 million to construct a development that would house the official hall of fame for Hip Hop music and culture.
The organization's mission is to "to preserve, archive, exhibit, educate, and showcase Hip Hop music and culture from around the world," and "conduct research and studies documenting hip-hop's historical influence on American pop culture and its socio-economic impact on societies and trends around the world," according to a press release.

The hall of fame's development team is approaching the construction in two phases. Phase one would be two-stories and contain a ground floor dining and retail area and a second-floor hall of fame, museum and event space, according to a press release. Phase one is set to open by February 2018, according to the development team.
The long-term plan for the development — a "full scale design and build" — is a 20-story building containing a hotel, retail and entertainment facilities and hall of fame facilities.
