Man Arrested in Killing of 18-Year-Old Homeless Man in Harlem: Police

18-Year-Old Ashton Niles was found stabbed to death in Harlem earlier this week. Police now say they have arrested a suspect.

HARLEM, NY — Police have arrested a suspect in the killing of 18-year-old Ashton Niles, who was stabbed to death Monday in front of a Harlem apartment building.

Cheichk Fall, 33, was taken into custody Wednesday night and will face murder and criminal weapons charges, police told Patch. Fall lives just a few block away from where Niles was stabbed to death, police said.

Niles was found in front of an apartment building Monday on the 200 block of West 145th Street around 4:32 p.m., police said. Niles was suffering from multiple stab wounds to the torso and was pronounced dead after being transported to Harlem Hospital, police said.

It is not immediately clear what led to the stabbing, police said.

Fall will appear in court on Thursday, Oct. 20, according to court records. Fall was arrested earlier this year in August and is currently facing assault charges stemming from that prior incident, according to court records.
