A 47-year-old man was robbed Wednesday morning on Central Park North near Lenox Avenue by a robber wielding a scooter.

HARLEM, NY — Muggers are getting inventive these days.
After robbing a 47-year-old man Wednesday morning, a mugger managed to evade arrest by getting away on a push scooter, police said.
The victim of the robbery was sitting on a park bench on Central Park North near Lenox Avenue when he was approached by three men at around 5 a.m., police said. One of the men flashed a gun, and during a struggle the victim was hit in the head with the scooter and suffered a deep cut, police told Patch. The muggers took the victim's wallet and some cash during the robbery, police said.

Police managed to catch two of the three suspected muggers, 18-year-old Ahmed Walker and an unidentified 15-year-old, officials said. Both Walker and the teen have been charged with robbery and are being held on bail of $5,000 and $1,000 respectively.
But the third suspect avoided arrest thanks to his scooter, which proved to be an invaluable multi-purpose crime tool.
