Homeless Man Found Dead In West Harlem In Apparent Homicide

The 43-year-old man was found on Broadway last month. Police have not made any arrests or identified any suspects.

HARLEM, NY — Police are investigating after a homeless man was found dead on a West Harlem street last month in an apparent homicide.

Around 1:30 a.m. on Oct. 4, police responded to a 911 call reporting an unconscious man in front of 3157 Broadway, between La Salle Street and Tiemann Place.

Officers found the victim, 43-year-old Francisco Sierra Lopez, unconscious and unresponsive. He was taken to Mount Sinai Saint Luke's Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The Medical Examiner found that Lopez had been the victim of an assault, having sustained blunt force trauma and laceration to the torso, and ruled his death a homicide.

Police have made no arrests and an investigation is ongoing.
