Man Gropes Woman In Harlem Building Elevator, Police Say

The man followed the woman into her building and then groped her in the elevator.

HARLEM, NY — The NYPD is trying to identify a man wanted for following a woman inside a Harlem apartment building and groping her, police said.

The 43-year-old woman was followed inside a residential building on Saint Nicholas Avenue and West 119th Street around 8:40 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 22, police said. The man who followed the woman inside the building then followed her into a building elevator, police said.

Once inside the elevator, the man grabbed the woman's backside multiple times, police said. When the elevator stopped on the building's fifth floor the man exited and fled the building, police said.

The woman was not physically injured during the assault, police said.

The suspect is described as a man in his 20s or 30s who stands at least 6-foot-1. He was last seen wearing all dark clothing with multi-colored sneakers, police said.
