Man Severely Burned After Substance Thrown On Him In East Harlem: NYPD

Police are seeking a person who approached a 44-year-old man from behind and threw an unknown substance on him on Park Avenue.

EAST HARLEM, NY — A 44-year-old man suffered severe burns to his face and neck after someone threw an unknown substance on him on Park Avenue Monday night, police said.

The man was outside 1638 Park Ave. near East 116th Street around 8:47 p.m. on Monday when a person approached him from behind and threw the substance, according to the NYPD.

The person then ran north on Park Avenue, police said.

Medics took the injured man to NYC Health + Hospitals/Harlem, where he was listed in stable condition.

Police are asking for the public’s help identifying the person involved. The NYPD did not identify the substance used in the attack.
