Man Shot Dead In East Harlem Playground: Police

A 29-year-old man died after being shot on a basketball court at an East Harlem playground Monday, police said.

Police responded around 11:13 p.m. to a 911 call reporting that a man had been shot inside Poor Richard's Playground, on Third Avenue between East 108th and 109th streets.

EAST HARLEM, NY — A man was fatally shot Monday night inside a playground in East Harlem, police said.

Police responded around 11:13 p.m. to a 911 call reporting that a man had been shot inside Poor Richard's Playground, on Third Avenue between East 108th and 109th streets.

They found the victim, a 29-year-old male, lying unconscious on a basketball court with a gunshot wound to the torso. He was pronounced dead at Mount Sinai Hospital.

Police have made no arrests and an investigation is ongoing. The man's name is being withheld pending family notification, police said.
