Man Shot In Lobby Of Harlem Public Housing Building: Police

The man heard gunshots and then felt pain in his hip, police told Patch.

HARLEM, NY — A man was shot Thursday afternoon in the lobby of a building in the Polo Ground public housing development, an NYPD spokesman told Patch.

The 30-year-old victim was standing in the lobby of 2949 Frederick Douglass Blvd, located near West 155th Street, around 2:30 p.m. when he heard gunshots, police told Patch. Shortly after hearing the gunshots the man felt pain in his left hip and realized he was shot, an NYPD spokesman told Patch.

The man, who was not identified, was transported to Harlem Hospital by private means and his injuries are not considered life threatening, police said.

The NYPD is investigating the shooting and have not made any arrests, a department spokesman told Patch.
