Meet Harlem's Superhero 'Luke Cage' in New Trailer
The new superhero show, set in Harlem, is scheduled for a September 30 premier on Netflix.
HARLEM, NY — The global premier of Netflix's new superhero series set in Harlem, "Luke Cage," is just weeks away. In anticipation of the September 30 release, the streaming service released a new trailer for the show Tuesday, titled "Who is Luke Cage?"
The trailer features action and dialogue shots from the new show spliced together with commentary from the show's stars and the show's executive producer Cheo Hodari Coker. Throughout the trailer the story of how Luke Cage becomes Harlem's superhero is told.
"He has powers he didn't ask for, the woman he fell in love with is dead and he was put in prison for a crime he didn't commit," Coker says in the trailer.

The show will share the Marvel universe of Netflix's "Jessica Jones," in which Cage was featured. "Luke Cage" is set in the events following "Jessica Jones," when Cage moves uptown to find out Harlem is being run by a criminal by the name of Cornell Stokes, played by Mahershala Ali. Stokes, also known as "cottonmouth," will play antagonist in the new show.
Several portions of the new trailer shows intense confrontations between Stokes and Cage.

"You knock down a few doors in the projects, now you're Harlem's hero?" asks Stokes in one exchange.
Cage replies, "I'm just getting started."
Fans will get the chance to see Harlem's hero get started on September 30, when Netflix releases the first season of "Luke Cage."
