Boy Struck By Car, Critically Injured In East Harlem, Officials Say
A 13-year-old boy was struck by a vehicle at the intersection of East 135th Street and Fifth Avenue Wednesday afternoon.

EAST HARLEM, NY - A 13-year-old boy was critically injured Wednesday afternoon after being struck by a vehicle in East Harlem, an NYPD spokesman told Patch.
First responders arrived at East 135th Street and Fifth Avenue shortly before 2 p.m. and transported the boy to Harlem Hospital, an FDNY spokeswoman told Patch. The boy was in the intersection when he was hit by a vehicle traveling east on East 135th Street, an NYPD spokesman said.
The driver stayed on the scene of the collision and has not yet been charged, an NYPD spokesman said.

The NYPD collision investigation squad will investigate, police said.

Three people have suffered traffic injuries at the intersection of East 135th Street and Fifth Avenue as of June 30 this year, according to city Vision Zero data. Since 2009, there have been 75 traffic injuries and 1 traffic fatality at the intersection, according to Vision Zero data. The fatality, a pedestrian, occurred in 2016, according to the data.
