Harlem Shooting Captured on Newly Released NYPD Video

A man was shot several times early Monday morning in Harlem. He was taken to the hospital and in stable condition.

HARLEM, NY — Police are searching for a suspect in a shooting that took place early Monday morning in Harlem.

Surveillance camera footage released by police (embedded below) shows a man firing several shots in the intersection of Amsterdam Avenue and West 133rd Street. The shooting occurred around 1:30 a.m. Monday.

A 23-year-old victim suffered multiple gunshot wounds throughout his body and was transported to Saint Luke's Roosevelt Hospital, police told Patch. The victim is in stable condition, police said.

A police spokeswoman could not say what cause the shooting, but that the incident is currently under investigation. The police footage shows what appears to be a verbal altercation taking place in the intersection. The suspect turns around, stakes several steps toward the victim and then begins to shoot.

Police describe the suspect as a black man in his 20s with medium build, medium complexion and short black hair.
