MORNINGSIDE HEIGHTS, NY — Two new restaurants will open in the coming months near Columbia University, including a new outpost of a beloved Brooklyn pizza shop.

Roberta's, a Bushwick-based pizzeria that enjoys a cult following for its cheap pies and varied menu, will open up this summer at 2913 Broadway between 113th and 114th streets, a spokesperson for Columbia said Thursday.

It will serve "a mix of classic and specialty pies, salads, entrees, and more," according to Columbia, which holds the lease on the space.

The storefront, currently vacant, formerly housed an Aerosoles shoe store.

The second arrival will be Sapp's, a Japanese eatery based in Long Island City, which will open its second restaurant in a now-vacant space at 2888 Broadway, between 112th and 113th streets.

The menu will include sushi, ramen, specialty rolls, rice bowls and more, as well as a drink menu with beer, wine, sake and cocktails. It will open this fall, Columbia said.

Columbia, which is one of the city's largest landlords, said that the new restaurants were in line with its goals to attract businesses that "bring a variety of amenities and experiences to the diverse Columbia community and surrounding neighborhood."

Other shops that recently opened or signed leases in Columbia buildings include Blue Bottle Coffee, the Hex & Co. board game cafe and Dos Toros.
