The Salvation Army Partners with Local NYC Organizations to Provide 4,800 Free Meals to Harlem Residents

Harlem, NY - From now until September 10th, the Salvation Army is partnering with P.S. Kitchen, Hope For New York, and Rethink Food to provide 4,800 chef-prepared vegan meals to local Harlem residents and families in need to help combat food insecurity.

P.S. Kitchen, a Times Square restaurant known for its sustainable, plant-based cuisine and social impact, will prepare 800 meals each week for distribution at The Salvation Army Manhattan Citadel Community Center every Tuesday and Thursday. The collaboration is made possible through the support of local New York nonprofits, Hope For New York, and Rethink Food.

The partnership comes at an especially important time for New York families. During the summer months, children are out of school, and families lose access to school-provided breakfasts and lunches, creating additional pressure on household food budgets. As a result, community organizations often see increased demand for food pantries, soup kitchens, and other food assistance programs.

By providing chef-prepared vegan meals, the partnership is also helping address a need that can be particularly challenging for individuals and families with dietary restrictions. The meals offer nutritious, plant-based options while giving Harlem residents additional access to prepared food during a time when community resources are in high demand.

The Salvation Army has long provided food assistance to Harlem residents through its community programs, including daily soup kitchen and food pantry services at its two Harlem-based community centers. The partnership with PS Kitchen, Hope for New York, and Rethink Food expands those efforts, bringing additional meals directly into the community while connecting The Salvation Army with local organizations committed to fighting food insecurity and creating meaningful social impact.

The 4,800 meals will continue to be distributed through September 10, providing ongoing support to Harlem residents and families in need throughout the summer.
