Sea Service Members to Beautify Harlem Community Center with Habitat NYC
Fleet Week isn't just for exploring NYC -- sea service members will work to improve Drew Hamilton Community Center for area residents.

Sea service members, including members of the U.S. Navy, U.S. Marine Corps, and U.S. Coast Guard will help Habitat for Humanity New York City (Habitat NYC) revitalize the Drew Hamilton Community Center on May 25 and 26 as a part of the 29th Fleet Week New York.
As part of Habitat NYC’s “A Brush with Kindness” project, a team of approximately 20 military personnel will be scrapping, prepping, and painting the foyer and main community room, making the Center much more inviting to the children and teens who participate in the Center’s after-school programs. Their work will be the first stage of a more extensive beautification process that will include the completion of a large, three-panel mural.
The programs at the Drew Hamilton Community Center are operated by The Children’s Village. All programs are offered free-of-charge. The Center is located at 220 W. 143rd Street between 7th Avenue and Frederick Douglass Blvd.
