Subway Riders Find Man Suffering Slash Wound to Face on Harlem A Train

The man was reportedly slashed from the ear to the chin when subway riders discovered him.

HARLEM, NY — Subway riders got more than they bargained for when they boarded an A train in Harlem Monday morning just after midnight.

The passengers boarded an A train at the West 145th Street station around 12:14 a.m. when they discovered a man on the train suffering from a slash wound to the face, police told the New York Daily News. The deep gash reportedly ran from the man's ear to his chin, the Daily News reported.

When the train got to the 81st Street–Museum of Natural History station the riders alerted police, who took the man to New York Presbyterian hospital for treatment, the Daily News reported.

The man has since been identified as Robert Gaston, 39, police told the Daily News. Gaston was reportedly intoxicated when found and did not tell police who attacked him, according to the report.
