ICYMI: Tyrone Howard Convicted Of Murder For 2015 East Harlem Killing Of NYPD Officer
NYPD officer Randolph Holder was shot and killed in 2015 while investigating reports of gunshots in East Harlem.

EAST HARLEM, NY — Tyrone Howard has been convicted in the 2015 shooting of NYPD officer Randolph Holder, a spokeswoman from the Manhattan District Attorney's office told Patch.

A jury found Howard guilty Monday of one count of aggravated murder, one count of first-degree murder, two counts of first-degree robbery, four counts of second-degree criminal weapons possession, two counts of reckless endangerment and one count of criminal possession of a forged instrument, a DA spokeswoman said. Howard is due for sentencing on April 3.
Holder was shot and killed on Oct. 20, 2015 while investigating reports of gunshots in East Harlem, according to the reports. Holder and his partner, Officer Wallace were stationed at East 120th Street near the FDR Drive when they heard a radio transmission that a suspect in a shooting was approaching their area on a stolen bicycle, NYPD officials said in 2015.

Holder and Wallace approached three individuals on the 120th Street walkway that connects the street to the FDR promenade when they realized that the individuals were not involved in the shooting, according to NYPD statements from 2015. Holder and Wallace were on the ramp leading to the FDR promenade when Howard approached them on a bicycle, got off the bicycle and fired one shot that struck Holder in the head, according to the statements.
Holder's partner then shot at Howard, forcing him to flee to the north where he was apprehended on the FDR Drive between East 124th and 125th streets, NYPD Chief of Manhattan Detectives William Aubrey said in 2015.

Holder was 33-years-old when he was killed. He was the son of a police officer and five-year veteran of the NYPD.
