Walk-In Clinic Opens in Harlem Pharmacy

HARLEM, NY — A new clinic staffed by nurse practitioners who can treat acute illnesses and minor wounds of walk-in patients has opened in a Harlem pharmacy.

MinuteClinic opened its 12th New York City location last week in a CVS on Lenox Avenue near West 116th Street, according to a press release. Its staff specializes in family care and is equipped to treat illnesses such as strep throat and ear, eye, sinus, bladder and bronchial infections, according to the release. The staff of nurse practitioners will also be able to administer vaccinations for influenza, tetanus, pneumonia and Hepatitis A and B.

"The new MinuteClinic location in Harlem will help increase access to high-quality, affordable health care in an area that’s convenient for patients," Andrew Sussman, M.D., president of MinuteClinic and executive vice president and associate chief medical officer of CVS Health, said in a statement. "The new clinic will also introduce even more patients to our growing suite of health care services as we continue to bring innovations and convenience to the way health care is delivered."

The MinuteClinic in Harlem will accept most major health insurance and the average cost of services is between $89 and $129, according to a press release. The staff at the MinuteClinic will be able to write prescriptions for acute illnesses.

The clinic is open from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Saturday, and 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Sunday, according to a press release.
