Baseball Captain Plays in Section All-Star Game
Harrison High School senior Mike DeLacy played in the section all-star game on Thursday night under the bright lights of Dutchess Stadium.
A few weeks ago Harrison senior third baseman Mike DeLacey thought he was taking off his jersey for the last time after a loss in the Section 1 championship game.
But the Husky captain was given the opportunity to lace up his cleats and button-up his jersey one more time in the section all-star game at Dutchess Stadium.
DeLacy got the good news on Monday when Harrison Coach Marco DiRuocco pulled the third baseman aside.

"He congratulated me, shook my hand, gave me hug and said 'you earned it'," said DeLacy.
Not only was he excited to play, but before this season he was not even aware of the game's existence.

"I actually didn't know until this year that they had an all-star team and when I heard about it I didn't think anything of it," said DeLacy. "But then I found out I was playing in the game and I was shocked and excited to play."
In school on Thursday, the senior said he was anxious all day because he could not wait to get out and play one more high school baseball game.
When he got to the field at Dutchess Stadium, DeLacy was met with yet another surprise.
"I walked on the field and Coach DiRuocco was there," he said. "I had no idea he was the head coach of the team until I saw him and when I found out I was excited to play for him for one last time."
DeLacy got the start at third base. Throughout the game the opposition tested the senior but he made every play in his four innings, showing that he is a great player on defense as well as offense.
In his two at-bats DeLacey moved a runner over in the first inning that would later come around and score. He also flew out to center field.
As for the game, DeLacy and his American League teammates didn't get the outcome they would have liked, and lost to the National League 6-5. But the senior said he enjoyed playing in the game.
"The experience was great, I had incredible time and I was appreciative to be a part of an unbelievable event like this game," DeLacy said. "It was weird playing with some guys that I have been going against for the past few seasons, but I made friends with a lot of the kids on the team and we all got along really well."
