Fordham Launching Doctor of Education Program
Students will work with local school administrators on real issues.

Fordham Westchester’s Graduate School of Education is launching a Doctor of Education (EdD) program that prepares graduates for leadership positions in K-12 settings by working on real issues facing local districts.
Fordham’s dissertation program matches small groups of students with high-level, local school administrators for three years. Students work with an administrator on real-time issues facing the district. Each students’ dissertation will be based on a different aspect of this issue.
The program is based on the Carnegie Project on the Education Doctorate model, which creates scholar-practitioners through blending theory and practice to solve contemporary problems in K-12 schools. It emphasizes collaborative learning and leadership development and is designed with applied research and dissertation development as key components of each course.

The 45-credit program will start in Fall 2016.
In addition to the general requirements for graduate study in the Graduate School of Education, all applicants must:

- Possess a master’s degree with at least a 3.0 GPA;
- Hold Educational Administration Certification;
- Have three years of educational leadership experience;
- Hold a leadership role in their school or district;
- Submit scores either for either the GRE or the MAT examination; and
- Participate in an interview with faculty.
The Graduate School of Education will be holding an information session at 4 p.m. Feb. 11 in Room 140 at Fordham Westchester in West Harrison.
