Harrison Artists Are Honored For Their Work By Local Legislators
Harrison High School junior Cyle Rockoff and SJ Preston 4th Grader Marco Citro are acknowledged
Harrison High School junior Cyle Rockoff and Samuel J. Preston Elementary School fourth grader Marco Citro received awards for their work from our local legislators.
Cyle Rockoff received second place in the Congressional Art competition sponsored by United States Representative Nita Lowey. Each spring, the Congressional Institute sponsors a nationwide high school art competition to recognize and encourage artistic talent in the nation and in each congressional district. Since the Artistic Discovery competition began in 1982, more than 650,000 high school students have participated. Students submit entries to their local representative’s office, and panels of district artists select the winning entries.
Marco Citro was the winner of the 2016 Earth Day Poster Contest for New York State Senator George Latimer’s 37th Senatorial District.

“Each entry from my District displayed tremendous originality and vision as well as obvious concern for the ecological future of our communities and our state,” said Senator Latimer on his website. “I am proud of your work and that of your classmates, and encourage you to continue to study and learn more about the serious challenges that face our environment.”
