Harrison-Based Pet Rescue Teaming Up With Harvey-Blasted Animal Groups
The Harrison-based group is sending supplies and receiving animals from Texas and Louisiana. They're looking for foster homes and donations.

HARRISON, NY — The devastation wrought by Hurricane Harvey and storm flooding have left people dead and thousands homeless, flocking to make-shift shelters. The damage is expected to exceed that of Hurricane Katrina. Harrison-based Pet Rescue is teaming up with rescuers on the ground to help Montgomery County (north of Houston and the area worst hit) to save lives.
"The stories are heartbreaking and our rescue friends on the ground are going above and beyond to help as many animals as they can," said Caroline Walker.

The animal shelters are also overwhelmed and many pets have been left behind with no food, water or possibility of survival without help.
Pet Rescue has sent a first load of food and other pet necessities.

The organization has also committed to pulling 30-35 animals to safety in the next 10 days, or as soon as transport can be organized. It is getting ready to welcome our newcomers from this region... can you help by fostering? The more foster homes they have, the more animals they can save. If you are nearby and can open your heart and home, please fill out a foster application.

They will be sending more pet food and supplies to the impacted area since the weeks to come will require food, crates, toys, bedding, etc.
Any assistance you can provide will directly help. No donation is too small, Walker said.
