Harrison Chief of Police Anthony Marraccini was recognized by Superintendent Dr. Louis N. Wool and Board of Education President Abby Mendelsohn for his “tireless commitment to the safety of the children and faculty of the Harrison Central School District” at a recent Board of Education meeting.
“We have in our midst a leader who has extended himself professionally and personally to every principal,” said Dr. Wool. “He has toured every one of our buildings with us and he has participated in our planning process. We think that much of the success we have had in collaborating with our police department in these very trying times in public schools is because of the leadership of the Chief of Police.”

Dr. Wool spoke of a recent incident with a faulty fire alarm at Louis M Klein Middle School during a torrential rain storm where students and teachers had to be evacuated safely and expeditiously to Harrison Avenue Elementary school.
“Before I could request assistance, there were already seven police officers working seamlessly with our faculty to ensure the safety of our students.”

Chief Marraccini graciously accepted the recognition on behalf of the entire Harrison Police Department.
“This is really for the men and women of the Harrison police department that are in those dangerous situations keeping our kids safe and keeping our community safe,” said Chief Marraccini. “I believe part of the success the police department has with the school district is that Dr. Wool and I share common values. We believe in excellence and we believe in taking care of our kids and doing everything we possibly can to achieve those goals.”
Chief Anthony Marraccini was recently honored by the New York State Shields Inc, “The Shields”, with the Captain Terrance Tunnock Boss of the Year award. He has dedicated 30 years of service as a police officer to the Harrison Police Department and the Harrison community.
