Harrison Voters To Decide On 2018-19 School Budget

Enrollment growth is one factor driving the budget increase, school officials said.

HARRISON, NY — Voters in the Harrison school district will be going to the polls Tuesday, May 15 to have their say on the budget for the 2018-19 school year.

The proposed spending package is $116,705,656, up 4.2 percent from the current year. The tax levy increase is 3.4 percent, under the state-mandated property tax cap.

There are additional teaching positions in the budget, due in large part to expected enrollment growth. New teaching positions include a kindergarten teacher at Purchase, a fifth-grade teacher at Parsons, a ninth-grade special education teacher and a high school teacher of English as a new language. The budget also supports a new five-year transportation contract and expands ADA building compliance, school officials said.
