Harrison High School Girls Soccer Teams Get A Kick Out of Community Service
HHS Girls Varsity and JV Soccer Teams Shows How Team Works To Help Others

The Harrison Girls Varsity and JV Soccer teams have donated their energies to many deserving organizations in the Westchester area this fall. In partnership with The Children’s Hope Chest, the girls participated in Recipes For Hope on Sunday, September 21. The teams baked edibles such as brownies, cookies, and nut and allergy-free fare and instead of selling them in the traditional bake-sale format, the athletes asked for a donation to help raise awareness for local children in need of assistance from poverty, abuse, illness or hunger. Together the teams raised over $1,600 for the project.
The following week the teams held a soccer clinic on Saturday, September 27th for the Harrison Youth Soccer League to give back to the budding future Harrison soccer stars. Nearly 40 middle school students attended the clinic run by Coach Jon-Erik Zappala. Activities included stretching exercises, ACL prevention activities, and skills and drills.
On Saturday, October 18th, the teams will be making sandwiches and other foods to be donated to the Grace Community Center as part of the outreach to help many of the homeless in the area.
