HHS Science Research Students Excel at JSHS Competition
Harrison High School senior Sarah McKinsey advances to State competition with first place win

Harrison High School Science Research students showcased their research at the Junior Science and Humanities Symposium (JSHS). Emma Abramson, Keon Azar, Lauren Cole, Sarah McKinsey, and Brian Siegel competed against students from Westchester and Rockland counties as they presented their research.
JSHS is designed to challenge and engage students (Grades 9-12) in science, technology, engineering or mathematics (STEM). Individual students compete for scholarships and recognition by presenting the results of their original research efforts before a panel of judges and an audience of their peers.
A total of 542 students from area schools competed in oral presentation and poster presenter categories. There were many topics of research which included Behavior, Bioinformatics, Biology, Cellular & Molecular Biology, Chemistry, Engineering, Medicine & Health, Neurology, and Physical Science. “Advancing to the next level is a huge accomplishment for any student doing research in a high school setting,” said Randy Gunnell – who along with Allison Blunt serve as HHS Science Research Advisors, “and the remarks from her judges were glowing, to say the least. We also hope you’ll join us at our HHS Science Symposium to see this outstanding work for yourselves. All of our students in the research program will present their work on May 24th in the Student Union.
