Harrison High School Senior Dean McCarthy National Signs Letter of Intent
Left-Handed pitcher commits to Elon University to baseball in the fall
Harrison High School senior Dean McCarthy signed his National Letter of Intent to play Division I collegiate baseball at Elon University. A left-handed pitcher, Dean has been a four year starter and a two-year captain for the Harrison Husky’s Varsity baseball team and has played for numerous travel baseball teams in the high school’s off-season.
“My dad and my uncles played Division I baseball at URI (University of Rhode Island) and I have a cousin who played at Kennesaw State and competed in the Super Regionals,” said McCarthy. “They, along with my brothers and other family members, have influenced my dream to play baseball beyond high school.”
As a junior, McCarthy had a breakout year amassing 49 strikeouts in 39 innings pitched while recording a 1.25 ERA (earned run average) for the year. As a result, he was received All League and Honorable Mention All-Section accolades and was voted the team’s MVP. McCarthy has also been a New York State Public High School Athletic Association (NYSPHSAA) scholar-athlete for the past three years.
