HHS Tech Students Teach Peers in the FASE Program

Harrison High School Integrated Technology students build bridges by building towers

Sophomores in the Harrison High School Integrated Technology program worked with students in the High School’s FASE (Functional Academic Skill Education) program to build towers. The idea was developed by HHS Tech teacher Louis D’Alessandro in collaboration with Special Education teachers Bianca Mollicone and Brittany White. The Tech students were excited to share their classroom learning of assembly with their peers. The teams carefully constructed, cut, and methodically glued their pieces together until a large tower began to take shape.

“Our students loved the experience!” said White. “They were all so proud of their towers and it was great for them to have something that they made themselves. Lou’s students did an awesome job – the small groups allowed our students to get individual attention from their peers and they honestly worked so well together! Is was so nice to see some of our students who have difficulty focusing on tasks, working hands-on for an extended period of time.”
