Jack-of-All-Trades Brett Levy Looks Toward Life After High School
This week's athlete of the week is Harrison's Brett Levy for an outstanding high school career spanning several sports in different seasons.

Brett Levy's name has never been synonymous with natural athletic greatness. In fact his short frame and skinny build do not add up to a particularly imposing athletic figure in any sport. But Levy managed to be a varsity athlete for three different sports teams and was also a key member on an AAU basketball team.
Levy recently graduated from Harrison High School and will be leaving for Syracuse University after a high school athletic career that spanned across four sports in his four years.
"I continued to switch sports because I wanted to experience every sport option available to me during my high school career," Levy said. "Additionally, I believed that I could make a positive contribution while being a member of these teams."

Levy was on the school's varsity tennis team during his freshman year. For a player that young, any varsity sport is a rigorous challenge and Levy felt some of the growing pains from being a thirteen-year-old boy in an eighteen year old man's sport, but with hard work he was able to hold is own as one of only two freshmen on varsity and even cracked the rotation.
"It was a great feeling playing on a varsity team as a freshmen," said Levy. "I did not necessarily feel overpowered by the older players, but had to put in more of an effort to prove myself."

In his sophomore year Brett decided to trade in his tennis racket for a lacrosse stick. The switch turned out to be the right move at the time for Levy as late in the season he was moved up to varsity for the team's playoff run.
Levy continued to play varsity lacrosse throughout his junior year and his roll began to grow with the team's success and the development of the Harrison lacrosse program.
"Of all the sports I enjoyed lacrosse most," said Levy. "It was really the only team sport I played on. I really liked the combination of skill and athleticism which made it a lot of fun."
Levy also found himself as a backup guard on the Minutemen Athletic Club basketball team. His contributions to the AAU squad helped the team win several tournaments throughout the Northeast. Though he rarely started, he was a key source of energy off the bench.
The sport Levy may be most known for, however, is golf. Levy had spent time on the golf course recreationally throughout his life but in his senior year he decided to try his luck on the Husky golf team. Not only did Levy make the team but he was named the squad's captain.
"It was always a pleasure to play with Brett. Not only because of his exceptional sportsmanship, but because of his humor -- he knew that the best way to recover from a bad hole was to crack a joke," fellow Harrison senior golfer Daniel Lichtenauer said. "He led the team through the good and bad with remarkable poise and never let the game get the best of him."
As a golfer Levy had an inconsistent year as he competed in the majority of the team's matches. He said the highlight of his season was beating Rye.
"Beating rye twice this year was incredible," said Levy. "Especially because of recent failures I had while competing in tennis and lacrosse."
Best of luck and continued success Brett Levy, Harrison's athlete of the week for the week of August 1 to the 7.
