Memorial Day In Harrison: Parade, Trash Pick Up Changes | Mayor
Mayor Ron Belmont also thanks the Harrison JCC for hosting the Downtown Fire Department's recent memorial service.

From Mayor Ron Belmont
Memorial Day will be celebrated this year on Monday, May 27 and I would like to invite our community to attend Harrison’s annual parade. Parade participants will line up at 9:30 AM on Halstead Avenue, corner of Thatcher Avenue. The step-off time will be at 10:00 AM. Parade participants include Veterans Groups, Harrison Police, Harrison Fire Departments, Harrison Ambulance Corps and a variety of other civic groups. I hope to see many residents joining us on this most important day.
I would like to recognize Rabbi Hammerman and the Harrison JCC for hosting the Downtown Fire Department’s recent memorial service. The service was held during Shabbat and was a thoughtful and somber tribute.

The National Alliance on Mental Illness of Westchester (NAMI) is the nation’s largest grassroots mental health organization dedicated to assisting those who are affected by mental illness. They have initiated an awareness ribbon campaign and you may have noticed white ribbons at various locations around Town. On Saturday, May 18 th , NAMI will hold their annual NAMI Westchester 5k Walk in Rye Town Park. These events will raise awareness and, as a result, free people from stigmas that prevent many from seeking the help they need. For more information about NAMI Westchester, visit www.namiwestchester.org .

With spring time comes good weather, budding flowers and door-to-door sales people. If you have not been one of the 1,100 Harrison households to sign up for the Do-Not Knock Registry, you can sign up on the Town’s website at www.harrison-ny.gov , or call the Town Clerk’s office at 914-670-3030 to request a form. Town Clerk Jackie Greer will be more than happy to assist you with any questions.
In closing, please be reminded that the Town/Village of Harrison requires all dog owners to obtain a dog license. State law mandates that we are only allowed to issue licenses to Harrison residents and all dogs, four months of age or older, must have a license. Proof of current rabies shots are required and a certificate of proof is required if the dog is spayed or neutered. The fee is as follows: spayed/neutered dogs ($13.00), un-spayed/un-neutered dogs ($21.00). Guide dogs, war dogs, hearing dogs and service dogs are exempt from fees. Licenses must be renewed, annually. Once licensed, the dog owner will receive a Town of Harrison ID tag. This tag should be affixed to the dog’s collar at all times. The tag number identifies the dog and its owner.
