Scapperotti Lead’s Harrison's Total Kaos Softball Team

Brianna Scapperotti and Total Kaos recently played in the eighteen and under Pony National Tournament in Akron, Ohio.

Brianna Scapperotti was allowed to play for the eighteen and under Total Kaos softball team thanks to a late birthday and she made the most of it this week, leading the team during the Pony National Tournament .

"Scapp" was a high school star in Harrison for four years and is now a starter for the Manhattanville Valiants.

Scapperotti's experiences as a college softball player made her a prominent figure on the diamond this week, not only because of her talent but also because of her experience as a player at the college level.

In her four years playing for Harrison Scapperotti was used primarily at first base, but has been used at several positions as a college player.

"Bri is a great first basemen and a real team player," said Scapperotti's varsity and Kaos teammate Julia Brefere. "She is a motivational leader and she always plays to win no matter what."

During the tournament in Akron, Scapperotti played first base while her bat was used throughout the lineup, hitting anywhere from second to fifth. Though her hitting was somewhat inconsistent during the tournament Scapp's play in the field was near perfection.

"What I did at bat depended on the day, some days were better than others," Scapperotti said. "In the field I did pretty well, I tried to make every play that I could."

This year will be Scapperotti's last season with Total Kaos and travel softball. She has been playing for the team since she was eleven years old and though she came into this summer season knowing it would be her last, she was is thankful for the opportunity to play in such a competitive league.

"Playing travel softball was a good experience, being able to travel to different states and play against all different teams was a lot of fun," she said.

The Total Kaos eighteen and under team didn't come away with the results they would have liked, ending the week 3-4, but both Scapperotti and the team represented themselves admirably against some of the best competition in the country.

Best of luck and continued success Brianna Scapperotti, Harrison's athlete of the week for July 25  - 31.
