Students Light It Up Blue at Purchase Elementary

Students Work Together To Raise Awareness for Autism

The students at Purchase Elementary School worked together to raise awareness for Autism in their Light It Up Blue event. In age appropriate presentations, students learned more about children with autism and how they have different and similar characteristics and personality traits as their classmates. The presentations focused on how to be a good friend to those who are different than they are. Students wrote in puzzle pieces how they would treat others to help fit the puzzle pieces together of friendship and respect.

Students, teachers, and faculty wore the color blue in support of this initiative and held a bake sale, raising $575 for the Autism Speaks organization.
