Two Arrested Over String of Harrison Parking-Lot Break-Ins

HARRISON, NY — Harrison police say they've arrested two people involved in a string of vehicle break-ins at Lifetime Fitness on Westchester Park Drive. They're both from Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Rachel Kennedy, 38, and Mondreon Haywood, 38, were charged with three Class E Felonies: Criminal Mischief 3 rd Degree, Grand Larceny 4th Degree and Criminal Possession of Stolen Property 4 th Degree, as well as Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7 th Degree – a Class A Misdemeanor.

Kennedy was also charged with Unlawful Fleeing a Police Officer in a Motor Vehicle 3 rd Degree
– a Class A Misdemeanor, as well as numerous Vehicle and Traffic violations.

Haywood was also charged with Tampering with Physical Evidence – a Class E Felony.

On July 15, a Harrison Police patrol officer was driving through the parking lot at Lifetime Fitness, when he observed a maroon-colored Chevrolet Impala, wanted in connection with several vehicle break-ins over the last two months. When the officer attempted to stop the Impala, the driver, Kennedy, refused to comply and attempted to evade capture, police said.

As they fled, police allege, Haywood, the front seat passenger, threw stolen proceeds out of the Impala’s window, which were later recovered. The Impala was eventually stopped on the Hutchinson River Parkway and the pair was taken into custody without incident, police said.
