U.S. Representative Sean Patrick Maloney Discusses Congressional Initiatives and Westchester Concerns

Community briefing draws 120 people and the largest number of elected officials since it began 15 years ago.

Representative Sean Patrick Maloney recently spoke to a gathering of 120 people at a Westchester community government briefing co-sponsored by UJA-Federation of New York and the Westchester Jewish Council. The breakfast event, which took place at the Jewish Community Center of Harrison, drew the largest number of elected officials since it began 15 years ago.

First elected in November 2012, Representative Maloney represents New York’s 18th district in the U.S. House of Representatives, which encompasses parts of Northern Westchester. He currently serves on the House Agriculture Committee and the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee. His priorities in Congress include strengthening the health and financial security of America's retirees, creating jobs and economic opportunity for New York families, investing in and improving our infrastructure, and keeping communities safe.

U.S. Congresswoman Nita Lowey, U.S. Congressman Eliot Engel, Westchester County Executive Rob Astorino also shared remarks.

“This annual breakfast, among many other events during the year, provides an opportunity for the leadership of the Westchester Jewish community to come together to hear from our elected officials and key decision makers in our local, regional, and national government — and for them to hear the concerns our Jewish community,” said Debra Abrahams Weiner of White Plains, who serves as chair of UJA-Federation’s Westchester Government Relations Committee. Joseph Rafalowicz of New Rochelle serves as her vice-chair. Arnold Linhardt of Bronxville serves as Westchester Jewish Council Government Relations Chair, and Dan Schorr of White Plains serves as vice-chair.
