County Executive Astorino Discusses Civics and Government with Samuel J. Preston students

The Samuel J. Preston Student Council welcomed guest speaker County Executive Rob Astorino to a unique question and answer session with the school’s 3-5 grade students. For the annual assembly, the Student Council, under the direction of co-advisors Joe Gottschalk and Thomasine Mastrantoni, invite a local elected official to address the students and answer questions they have prepared in advance.
County Executive Astorino answered questions ranging from important projects in the county such as the potential improvements to the Rye Playland Amusement Park, taxes, education impacts of the New York State’s implementation of the Common Core, and the County Executive’s own future political aspirations.
Past speakers to this yearly event have included County Legislator Bill Ryan, Harrison Mayor Ron Belmont, and US Representative Nita Lowey.
