2 Men Arrested For Criminal Sex Acts With A 15-Year-Old: Cops

Officials at a local high school notified Suffolk Police about a student having sexual relations with the two men, police say.

Two men were arrested on felony charges Monday for engaging in sexual acts with a 15-year-old boy, Suffolk Police said.

According to police, on Nov. 11, administrators from a local high school notified police about a 15-year-old male student having sexual relations with two older men who he had met on the mobile app Grindr.

A thorough investigation was conducted and police discovered the identity of the men, both of whom were aware that the student was only 15, police said.

Fourth Squad detectives arrested Alexander Cottrell and William Reinhardt Monday afternoon.

Cottrell, 29, of Hauppauge, is was charged with two counts of third degree criminal sexual act and one count of endangering the welfare of a child for engaging in criminal sexual acts on two separate occasions with the victim in the last two months, police said.

Reinhardt, 53, of West Islip, is was charged with two counts of third degree criminal sexual act and one count of endangering the welfare of a child for engaging in criminal sexual acts on two separate occasions with the victim this past summer, police said.

Cottrell and Reinhardt will be held overnight at the Fourth Precinct in Hauppauge and are scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip Tuesday.
