“The victims suffered significant trauma throughout their bodies and investigators believe that the homicides happened recently,” Suffolk County Assistant Police Commissioner Justin Meyers told CBS 2.
The bodies were found just a few miles from where police say MS-13 gang members killed numerous people, including Brentwood High School students Nisa Mickens and Kayla Cuevas last year. Thirteen MS-13 members have been charged in connection to seven murders in Brentwood over the past several years.

Police have not said yet if they believe the bodies found at the Central Islip park, which is located across the street from an elementary school, are connected in any way to MS-13.
Police are expected to release more information at a press conference Thursday at 1 p.m.
