Celebrating Hauppauge's History

       I am deeply touched by the interest that so many have expressed in the history of our hamlet. Through each of the historical photo articles and the showcases of notable landmarks in Hauppauge, a wealth of community knowledge as to where Hauppauge has come from has emerged to the benefit of all Hauppaugians. To each person who has granted us all the privilege of sharing in your direct experience with a Hauppauge of some point in the past, thank you so very much. 

       In keeping with such a community exposition, as I move from my research in historic documents, I will attempt to find some way to draw this collective knowledge together into an account that can be passed on to future generations of Hauppaugians. Though we are split between Islip and Smithtown, and the Island is dominated by the historical narrative of the North and South Shores, Hauppauge has a history which is very much its own and deserves to be told. Thank you all for continuing to demonstrate this in all of the details which you bring to the story of Hauppauge.
