ESL Classroom=Language Barrier
Very upset parent about child's placement in an ESL program.
My son is in Kindergarten at Bretton Woods in Hauppauge SD. Unaware to me, there is an ESL class where many students teither do not speak any english or very little. My child was placed within this classroom and when my son approached a little boy to be his friend the dad told my son that the boy does not speak any english. My son looked up at me and said how can he be my friend if he can't talk to me. I requested my son be placed into a different classroom and the principal said he will not change his placement. I am now following through the proper channels to go above him to place my son within a class that he can both blossom socially and academically. How can a shy child open up if there is a communicaton gap such as this??
